What month will my Licence Plate Expire?

Posted on: Oct 25, 2016

The month that your registration expires depends upon the first letter of your last name (or the name or first digit of your company if registering it in your company name).  If you are registering a vehicle and you don’t already have valid Alberta registration, chances are you will be renewing for less than or more than a year, depending upon your renewal month and current month. For example, if your last name starts with “V”, your renewal month is July. Therefore, if you come in to register in January, you will have to choose between 6 months, 18 months or 30 months registration. Registration is pro-rated at a cost of $6.25 per month, plus the $9.45 (with tax) service fee. There is no tax on the government portion of the registration.
