Vehicles
All vehicles must be registered in the province of Alberta. Your vehicle registration typically expires once a year (unless you renewed for two years). The Government of Alberta no longer mails out renewal notices, so be sure to sign up to receive a text or email reminder. The penalties for driving without valid registration are high, so don’t get a ticket.
The type of plate that you require will depend on your driving purposes; if you use your vehicle solely for personal use, you will get a passenger plate. If you use your vehicle to transport goods, tools or passengers, you will require a Commercial Plates.
